Secret Pal Questionaire--Yeahhh!!!!

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I love Merino, I've been getting into lace lately. I like Lamb's Pride for felting. I also adore multicolored or handpainted yarn, not necessarily striping. Most anything that is soft and pretty.

What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I don't like Aunt Lydia's, it's terrible to knit with. I don't like acrylic anything.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
When traveling they go in the bottom of my bag. At home I have a glass vase I stick them in.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I've been kniting about 6 months, taught myself with a book. I have crocheted a lot though but find knitting more fun. I think I'm intermediate or almost anyway. I'm trying to tackle cables, and getting ready to take a class (one day) on fair isle.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
No, I've never filled one out, but if I do I'll post it.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)
I like citrusy, flowery. Can't take anything like sandalwood or heavy scents, they give me a headache.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Unfortunately, you can tell by looking at me. I'm currently on a diet, but once a month I feed the need for chocolate!

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I was able to borrow a spinning wheel for 3 months, had to give it back today, (sigh.) I love spinning, completely hooked. I'm buying a wheel this month for sure. I'm also doing my first needle felting project.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) My current favorites are Sarah McGlachlan (sp?) Nickelback, Howie Day, Beethoven. I'm pretty widespread.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?
Yellow, blues, purples, jewel tones. I hate orange, never liked it, no idea why.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I'm married with 5 kids, one in Iraq right now, two in high school (living with their dad this year,) two in grade school. One cat, Miss Kitty, 23 whopping pounds and spoiled. Recently lost a pomeranian, and will have to have another dog. Thinking about a yellow lab.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
I like scarves in the winter, never wore hats much. I like mittens & gloves, never had a poncho so I don't know. I'm an OR nurse so have to go in way early and it's cold before sunrise.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I like shawls, especially lace patterns. I like making totebags for felting, and would like to try another sweater.

13. What are you knitting right now?
Just finished a tote bag out of Lambs Pride. I have a sweater, my first, in cotton to seam together and it's done, and I recently ripped out a shawl and am going to start over. I'ts in 100% merino in lavender.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
To be honest I've never really gotten many handmade, but the few I did get I really appreciated. They are special.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Mostly circular because of less weight, bamboo feels nicer.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
No, neither one. Unless you count my husbands hands.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?
I started an afghan about 5 years ago, just can't bring myself to work on it.

18. What is your favorite holiday?
Definitely Christmas. I love shopping for people and wrapping things up to look nice. I love the anticipation.

19. Is there anything that you collect?
White and pink milkglass, I have loads of that. I've started collecting those glass paperweights that have the colors inside. They can be so pretty.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I don't have any subscriptions. I want to get Spin Off, and maybe Knitters magazine, I'm not as familiar with those so I don't know the best one. I'd love a book of how to make socks, or lace patterns. Knitters Handbook I've been told is a great reference to have.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
Cables and color knitting.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
I've not tried socks yet, but would like to try. I'll have to get back to you on the measurements.

23. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)
10/16. Wow, how did it get here already?
